Why Are Almost All News Media Radically Left?

America craves factual, unbiased news reporting, yet almost all modern journalism is ultra-liberal and untrustworthy. How did we get here, and can we recover?

The Democratic Convention by any rational measure was boring, uninspiring, and lacked substance. Yet the liberal media praised every aspect of it with hardly any critical analysis.

Conversely, half-way through the Republican Convention, any unbiased observer would rate it as exciting, inspiring, and offering an abundance of substance. Yet most media coverage criticized every segment of it. The morning after a second evening of eclectic guest speakers, upbeat events, and rousing presentations, I opened my Yahoo home page containing a variety of news agency reports. I scrolled and scrolled for any positive report of the prior evening. None. But here are the headlines from the first couple of pages:

  • Suburban Women Are Rallying Against Trump, Evangelical Support of Donald Trump Spits on His Legacy, Melania’s Disparaging Remarks about President Trump and Ivanka Caught on Tape, Prominent Republicans Not Supporting Trump, Trump Isn’t Building a Case Against Biden, Trump Jr Believes Father Will Be Defeated by Biden, First Night RNC Ratings Down, RNC Naturalization Ceremony Sparks Uproar

How did we get from Art Buchwald, Walter Cronkite, and David Brinkley to this? Well, it’s all about money and mergers. Three decades ago, the news media industry was owned by over 50 companies. Did you know that six corporations now own 90 percent of the new media? Those same six corporations also own 70 percent of the cable companies. Did you know that the major stock holders of those six corporations are a handful of billionaires. Most of those billionaires are also liberal moguls in the entertainment industry. Most news programs and publications are now little more than extensions of the liberal entertainment industry. Yes, monolithic Hollywood produces most of your news.

Once that is understood, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that most of the drivers of today’s news are not principled journalists, but rather entertainment elites who spin the important events and news makers according to their own personal leftest agenda.

I didn’t write this post to promote a particular news source. However, I am personally convinced that there is one media corporation–and probably only one–that is owned by a conservative who hasn’t sold out to the Left. That is News Corp which owns Fox, Wall Street Journal, New York Post, and several other outlets. News Corp’s controlling stockholder and executive chairman is Rupert Murdoch, one of the best known conservative voices in America.

I don’t deny that Fox News is somewhat biased on the conservative side. But I do believe it is about the only legitimate alternative to the rest of the ultra-biased liberal news media. Perhaps that is why its Nielsen ratings are consistently higher than any other television news provider. If just half of the news viewers and readers would opt for News Corp media for most of their news, the others would have to become balanced or go broke. This nation could then recover from the unfair influence of the radical left media.

Dear Voter, It’s For Your Children and Grandchildren

Elections are always overly focused on candidates and issues. But the consequences of elections have little to do with candidates and issues. Elections have everything to do with the direction of our nation and the shaping of our culture. Too often, we vote on today’s situations while disregarding the tomorrow our vote will create.

In this year’s presidential election, the vast majority of voters seem to be determined to vote based on their opinion of President Trump. Relatively few are really pumped about Biden, but many will vote for him just to get rid of Trump. Their vote is a referendum on Trump’s unpleasant personality, Covid-19 frustrations, and the current state of the economy. How tragic it is that so many voters will disregard the America that a Biden presidency will create for our children and grandchildren.

Regardless of one’s personal assessment of Trump, no one can deny that his pre-pandemic America was on a rocket launch trajectory. The booming economy was breaking all records, patriotism was returning, allies were stepping up to Trump’s demands for fairness, enemies were making concessions to his defense posturing, the nation was regaining its prominence, Constitutional freedoms were being reclaimed. Law and order were respected. In just three years, we had reconstructed a future for our children and grandchildren that would be even better than what we had enjoyed.

Regardless of one’s personal assessment of Biden, no one can deny that his post-pandemic America would be on a rocket reentry trajectory. The economy would weaken severely under Biden’s over-regulation of business, higher taxes, and the “Green New Deal.” His foreign policy would return to propping up wealthy allies and kowtowing to our enemies. Our military would be hamstrung again, and attacks on Constitutional freedoms would resurface. Law and order would be degraded.

The only checks to the radical socialist movement sweeping our nation have been President Trump and conservatives in Congress. If these checks were removed, we would be setting the table for a crippling culture inherited by our children and grandchildren. At an alarming rate, we are moving away from the traditional quality of life, growth opportunities, and freedoms we all have taken for granted. The exponential rate of movement toward Socialism in a four-year term led by Biden and the liberal Democrats would be devastating and probably irreversible. Is that really the America we want our children and grandchildren to credit us for?

Please take just a moment right now to imagine America as you would want it for your children and grandchildren. Then decide which candidates for the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives will lead America in that direction. Vote unselfishly for those candidates. Give little or no consideration for personalities or the current state of affairs which will ultimately be of little importance.

I will vote for an America even better than the America I enjoyed–for my children and grandchildren.

Who Is Kamala Harris?

Joe Biden has announced his selection for the potential 47th president. If Biden is elected in November, Kamala Harris will very likely be our president before he finishes his first term. His choice will certainly give her great advantage for becoming the Democratic nominee in 2024. Consider what we know about her.

Harris meets the minimum specification of being a black female, but she is not African American. Her father, Donald Harris, immigrated from Jamaica, and her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, immigrated from India. Neither was naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Harris, being born in Oakland, California, is a citizen by birth. She is 55. Her mother, a civil rights activist, died in 2009. Her father, also a civil rights activist, is a Stanford professor of Keynesian Economics, a socialist-leaning economic theory of big government spending to control the economy. Her sister, Maya Harris is a lawyer, MSNBC political commentator, and former Hillary Clinton policy advisor. So, Kamala’s family influences have been socialism, civil rights activism, and Hillary Clinton politics.

Harris is married to entertainment lawyer, Douglas Emhoff. He was previously married and has two young adult children. Kamala has no biological children.

Harris’s mother was of the Hindu faith. “Kamala” means “lotus” another name for a Hindu goddess. Her father appears to be of no particular religion. She married Emhoff, a practicing Jew, in a Jewish wedding ceremony officiated by her sister. Although she was raised on Hindu practices in the home, a family friend often took her to an African American protestant church. She claims to be Christian, but distances herself from evangelical Christian values.

Harris got her career start in 1994 when San Francisco mayor, Willie Brown, named her to the California Medical Assistance Commission. Her affair with Brown while he was married was acknowledged publicly by the mayor. The Los Angeles Times reported on her as, “Brown’s girlfriend.” Her elective office career began in 2004 when she became District Attorney of San Francisco. She went on to become California’s Attorney General in 2010 after an election fraught with scandal.

In 2016, Harris won the California U.S. Senate race to succeed outgoing Senator Barbara Boxer. She quickly gained a national profile as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee with emotionally-charged, pointed questioning of Jeff Sessions, William Barr, and Brett Kavanaugh. As a senator, she has taken positions supporting the following initiatives:

  • Abolish capital punishment
  • Eliminate mandatory minimum sentences
  • Eliminate private prisons
  • Mandate paper ballots
  • Subsidize renters and homeowners
  • Study reparations
  • Ban assault weapons
  • Allow few, if any, limits on abortions
  • Legalize marijuana
  • Scrap past pot convictions
  • Bring all troops home
  • Increase corporate taxes
  • Cut military funding
  • Stop border wall building
  • Implement universal healthcare

Watch Democrats try to paint her as a moderate, just as they have Biden. She will distance herself from the radical left in speeches and interviews. But don’t be fooled. She is a career California politician steeped in leftist dogma. As for integrity, she leaves a trail of scandal and corruption in the wake of her unbridled ambition. As for world view, she will pursue the redirection of America toward Socialism. As for political aspiration, this week begins her campaign for president in 2024 with her hope that it might come sooner.

I believe there is great likelihood that Biden, if elected, will not be able to complete his first term considering his age and cognitive issues. The scenario of his stepping down prematurely as President Kamala Harris moves into the Oval Office has some Democratic movers and shakers salivating.

The Chosen

Jesus Among the Chosen

No doubt you have seen or at least heard of the TV series, The Chosen, created by American filmmaker Dallas Jenkins. It is unique as the first multi-season series about the life of Jesus and is the highest crowdfunded film of all time. I just finished watching the first season and am blown away. Let’s look as some inside skinny on this phenomenal series.

After watching the first season of The Chosen, you will never think of Jesus and the disciples the same as before. Jenkins’ objective was to portray Jesus through the eyes of those who were with him, not through our eyes 2000 years later. It’s hard for me to imagine the Christ laughing uncontrollably or dancing wildly at a wedding party. But, of course, He did things like that. He had almost all human characteristics, yet He was God.

This series is the most practical look at what God incarnate might have been like as you find yourself following Him through the highlights of His life. Although considerable liberty is taken by the screenwriters in the story, I never detected any contradiction to the truth of the gospel accounts in the Bible. The content is both plausible and authentic regarding the culture of first century Judea. There is nothing amateurish about this production. It rivals anything out of Hollywood in quality and professionalism. It is also convicting and thought-provoking for the viewer.

Entertainment critics are raving over the series. It received a 100% from Rotten Tomatoes–their perfect score–and 99% from audiences. It has been viewed over 50 million times in 180 countries. The film makers have a goal of The Chosen to be seen by over one billion people in every country in the world. Although its main purpose is not evangelism, it has every potential of drawing millions of people to Christ and Christianity. Seven seasons are planned which will cover the lives of the disciples after Jesus has departed.

The faith-based production company, VidAngel, along with executive producer, Derral Eves, developed very innovative funding methods for the project. Prospective crowdfunding investors were offered shares of ownership and profits from the company for their investment in the first eight-episode season. The second season is largely being funded by sale of first season DVDs at $30.00 each. I bought one and encourage my blog readers to “pay it forward” even if you have already seen it.
