The President’s Call for Unity Followed by Blatantly Divisive Actions
At the end of President Biden’s inaugural speech, I posted that his call to unity would be proven sincere or hollow within a week. It took him only a matter of hours to alienate half the nation. Let’s review his immediate divisive actions and inactions.
- The most blatant disunity action was actually the president’s inaction on the impeachment of Donald Trump. America is essentially split evenly on whether the former president should be impeached a second time. This impeachment is arguably bogus on its merits and its constitutionality. The most unifying move the president could have made to underscore his appeal for unity would have been too head off this debacle of a process. He could have easily picked up the phone and called Pelosi asking her to back off in deference to his need for a peaceful start to his presidency. He could still do this with Schumer.
- Then he immediately began constructing his own wall–a two-foot high stack of executive orders overriding many of Trump’s conservative advancements. Most of these advancements were vital to our nation’s security and prosperity as well as supported passionately by, again, half of Americans.
- He restricted immigration enforcement, removed limitations on asylum, stopped all deportations, added illegals to the census count, and shut down further building of the wall. Caravans with thousands of illegal immigrants immediately formed in Central America and began heading toward our boarder (deja-vu?). Border security that had finally become orderly and effective is now back in chaos, and American jobs are threatened again.
- He halted the Keystone Pipeline abruptly ending thousands of jobs. That combined with his promise of major cutbacks in fracking will likely end American oil and gas independence. Watch gas prices soar.
- He reentered the Paris Climate Accords recommitting America to more than our country’s share of environmental restrictions while giving China and other countries a pass. The U.S. already exceeds the requirements of the Accords without this commitment.
- He reversed former President Trump’s ban on transgender recruits in the military. Former President Obama had cleared transgender persons to openly serve in our armed forces without restriction, but Trump canceled that order. Now, under President Biden, biological men will be allowed to identify as females, dress in female uniforms, and be housed with women. Likewise, biological women will dress as men and will live in male quarters. Biological males and females will be forced to shower together, especially on deployments, in wall-mounted showers with no dividers (typical in the military). Directives have been distributed to all U.S. military personnel that cooperation and respect will be demanded of everyone in this co-mingling of the genders. As a retired military officer, I find it extremely difficult to even write about this unfathomable situation.
These are just a few examples of the radical leftist agenda of this president’s first few days in office. To put this in perspective, his 30 executive orders and directives in his first three days without advice or debate compare to Trump’s and Obama’s first week with four and five such orders respectively. Unity? I haven’t seen it yet.
With this election, America has taken a deep dive into radical cancel-culture socialism with little regard for the Constitution. And I believe we have seen only the first hints of what is to come. The saddest part of this is that multi-millions of conservatives voted for our present condition. Their votes for Biden were not for him or his agenda. Their votes were simply against Trump because they didn’t like his personality and demeanor. I didn’t like that part of Trump either. But I loved what he did for America to keep us from where we are now going.
I voted with over 74 million others for a president who did more to better American lives than any other president in my lifetime. I just hope and pray that the anti-Trump conservatives will see what is happening now and at least build a conservative congressional majority firewall in 2022–if it’s not too late by then.

Impeachment Was the Epitome of Hypocrisy
Just when I had concluded that Congress couldn’t do anything more hypocritical than what I had already witnessed, they impeached the president…again! Forceful removal from national office is justified, but for many prominent Democrats rather than the president. Let’s review who is really guilty of inciting insurrection.
First, much of President Trump’s rhetoric at the rally on January 6th was unwise in my opinion. But, he never once urged the crowd to do anything illegal and certainly did not suggest engaging in violence or entering the Capitol building. He did not incite insurrection–period. He said, “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen.” He did not even organize the rally. It was organized by a non-profit group, Women for America First, and they invited him to speak. Yet, in the impeachment proceedings on Wednesday, the Democrats testified one after another that Trump “planned, organized, and directed the mob to violently storm the Capitol.” Anyone has the right to criticize the president’s words and actions prior to the riot, but no one has the right to blatantly lie about his words and actions. The fact is the votes to impeach were based on lies as was the case for the last impeachment. However, the truth is that several politicians should be removed from office.
Joe Biden said he would like to take Trump behind the gym and “beat the hell out of him.” Throughout his campaign, his silence regarding the unprecedented violence by radical leftists was his tacit approval and an invitation for the mobs to continue. Many lives were lost.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “I just don’t know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country. Maybe there will be.”
Vice President Elect Kamala Harris urged that, “Protesters should not let up.”
Congresswoman Maxine Waters urged her followers, “If you see anybody from (Trump’s) cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
Senator Cory Booker said he wanted to punch the president.
Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley said of Black Lives Matter, “There needs to be unrest in the streets.”
In large measure, Democratic rhetoric of this kind has incited radical leftists to conduct criminal insurrections across America.
In 2011, thousands of Democrat anarchists stormed the Wisconsin Capitol and occupied it for two weeks. The Democrat response: “This is what democracy looks like.”
In 2016, hundreds of BLM activists blocked interstate highways and violently accosted police, killing several. The Democrat response: “To assign the actions of one person to an entire movement is dangerous and irresponsible.”
In 2018, a mob stormed the Supreme Court building and pounded on the door yelling threats. The Democrat response: “It’s understandable.”
Last summer, in major cities across the country, groups of leftists marched in streets, set buildings on fire, looted businesses, assaulted innocent bystanders and police, killing several. The Democrat response: “These are mostly peaceful protests.”
Later, mobs seized several blocks of downtown Seattle for days declaring it an autonomous zone of self government. The Democrat response: “It’s a block party atmosphere.”
In August, a crazed mob attacked several prominent Republicans, including Senator Rand Paul, departing late night from the Republican Convention. DC police were told to stand down. The Democrat response: Silence.
Ignoring their own guilt, this Democratic Congress has doubled the number of impeachments in our nation’s history, this time without even a traditional inquiry and investigation. And only for political gain. The Democrats’ appeal for unity is totally hollow.

Congressional Objections to the Electoral College Are Necessary
Every American should be appalled and ashamed of the 2020 election. Regardless of our opinions of the presidential candidates, we must recognize the suspicions of an election fraught with bogus vote counting, disregard for law and policy, unqualified voters, questionable voting machines, and unprecedented election interference by mainstream media. If there were ever a reason for congressional intervention into the election process, this is it.
Let’s face it, we are beyond any real potential for overturning presidential election results. Joe Biden will almost certainly be our next president. However, after all the massive, but unsuccessful, efforts to challenge the veracity of the election, the fact remains that we still have a broken election system. It’s hard to come to grips with the truth that the greatest democratic republic in the world just held an election that looked more like that of a corrupt third-world nation. For that reason, Congress should demand an emergency audit of the 2020 election. That audit should result in sweeping changes to our future election process.
Those dozen or so senators and around 150 representatives who have indicated they will vote against the counting of electoral votes this week know it will not overturn the votes. They are just calling attention to the sham of an election as a last ditch effort to acknowledge the lack of integrity in the whole process and force some corrective action. Every American should demand the same and applaud the boldness.
Many states, especially the swing states, must clean up their act regarding election fraud. State legislatures must take charge and hold their governors and secretaries of state accountable for irregularities. Redundancy and oversight failures must be corrected. Mainstream news media’s extreme bias favoring liberal candidates and platforms must be called out by appropriate political and regulatory agencies. This is what an emergency congressional audit should do before January 20th.
When there is a serious national problem that threatens our democracy, the Congress should act immediately. A polite, pro forma validation of the electoral votes is not what this country needs. We need a high-level, bipartisan, intensive examination of all the accusations of fraud that would exceed by far the efforts of the president’s legal team. This should be accomplished before January 20th to assure the public that the irregularities, although serious, are being dealt with and are not of the magnitude that would have reversed the outcome of the election.
That emergency audit is the hope of the senators and representative who will challenge the electoral count. They are acting within their constitutional rights and should not be harassed for protecting the integrity of our elections. They deserve our support no matter which side of the aisle we favor.
