What a Stark Contrast in Vision for America!

The State of the Union displayed the most striking disparity between two philosophies of government and leadership that I have seen in my lifetime. President Biden once again rejected the opportunity to unify the nation choosing instead to regurgitate his socialist agenda of government overreach, unrestricted spending, false claims, blame-casting, and cultural depravity. Governor Sanders’ rebuttal, on the other hand, countered with a positive appeal for individual freedom, compassionate leadership, priority on families, government restraint, and traditional values. Let’s look further into this stark contrast.

Biden packed a lot into the brutal 73-minute speech, but integrity was hard to find. The media are conflicted on how many lies were told, but there was an abundance of whoppers. The audience erupted in combined laughter and boos when he accused Republicans of wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. Then there was the prognosis that we may need fossil fuels “for at least another decade” (more laughter). Eyes rolled when he repeated the falsehood that he inherited a bad economy and led a remarkable economic recovery. He continued his insistence that he reduced the budget deficit by $1.4 trillion. But he failed to mention that he had at the same time increased the national debt by $4.2 trillion–more than in any other two-year period in the nation’s history. Oh, and he blamed Congress for the border crisis. These are just a small sampling of the litany of fabrications he continues to foist on Americans. All this was frequently interspersed with his yelling, finger-pointing, arm-waving, slurred speech, and wrong word choices.

Regardless of party affiliation, most Americans are disappointed, disgruntled, and dejected by the actual state of our union as indicated by recent polls. Biden’s speech did much to worsen that condition. It was deceptive, divisive, and disheartening. America was looking for a reason for hope. They got a reason for hopelessness.

Enter, the refreshing, upbeat, and youthful counterpoint by Governor Sanders. She contrasted the mindset of typical Americans with that of the Administration and likened it to the difference in “normal and crazy.” She called for the return of traditional family values, less government intervention, sensible spending, and a more secure society, especially for our children. Sanders decried the liberal woke faction as being far outside of mainstream America and needing to be stopped. She touted moving toward younger leadership with fresh ideas for advancing our nation. I heard one pundit comparing the two speakers say, “She is half his age and twice as smart.”

I am pumped about Arkansas’ new governor. She is going to be an icon for conservatism. She may be America’s Esther “for such a time as this.” I hope she stays with the Natural State for the two-term, eight-year limit, then runs for president. That would mean her announcing her candidacy in 2032 at the relatively young age of 49. Let’s pray for Biden relief in 2024 with a strong two-term Republican followed by a two-term Republican woman in the White House.

Worst Year in Decades Capped by Worst Election in History

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

At the end of this devastating year, the majority of Americans have apparently chosen bigger government, higher taxes, creeping socialism, waning economy, more abortion, iniquitous sexuality, weaker military, fewer freedoms, illegal immigration, unchecked lawlessness, and Kamala Harris as the likely future president. I believe most of those Americans ignored those consequences opting rather to demonstrate their displeasure with the president’s personal behavior. Here is my take on this unprecedented election.

First, let’s be real. I doubt that over ten percent of the voters really wanted Biden and Harris as their president and vice president. Hardly any enthusiasm could be detected in their lackluster campaign. Biden voters just hated Trump. Biden seems destined to become president only because he wasn’t Trump. So now, we have sent a message to the world that our great nation is plunging more deeply into socialism and immorality–because most voters hated the president’s personality.

However, in defense of the anti-Trump voters, their views were largely based on deception. They were formed mostly from an overwhelmingly biased news media and social media. American media, with few exceptions, have become a formidable arm of the Democratic Party. Most Americans have been victims of a constant daily diet of media bias, untruths, and censorship. Trump was grilled mercilessly by the mainstream media while Biden got hardly any challenging questions. I never saw one single positive news story on Trump outside of Fox News and Newsmax. Conversely, I never heard one negative report on Biden from the liberal media. The concept of balanced reporting from mainstream media went away years ago. This is a sad commentary on our nation.

Had Trump received even minimal consideration of his accomplishments from the House and the liberal media, he would have won this election handily. Instead, both the House and the biased media attacked him with the fake three-year Russia probe, baseless impeachment, legislative and policy rejection, constant harassment, and misrepresentation of his pandemic leadership. No president could hold up under that level of prejudice.

Then, on top of all of this, the election was an absolute sham. National pre-election-day polls that predicted double digit wins for Biden, ballots mailed out to all registered voters, days or weeks allowed to count the votes, legal observers not allowed to observe, batches of thousands of votes coming in last minute 100% for Biden, Trump votes found in trash cans, and voters accepted with no I.D. All of the irregularities favored Democrats, and all could have been easily avoided. Trump would have clearly won in a fair election. This was NOT a fair election.

I pray we will retain the Senate majority. Otherwise, I believe there would be no hope for our nation. The assumed new president and the House will make major strides in liberalizing and weakening America. But the very worst of their initiatives, the Green New Deal, socialized medical care, new states, and destruction of the electoral process will hopefully not see the light of day. If the Senate counterbalances the House, little will be accomplished for the people, but at least the House and the White House will be limited in their attempts to radicalize the country.

I can’t see what God is doing in the America with which He blessed us. We don’t even deserve His attention now considering what we have done with this greatest of all nations. Maybe He is humbling us to have to depend only on Him. We must embrace Proverbs 3:5-6 at this point: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Will we do that? Lord, please straighten the path of America.

Who Is Kamala Harris?

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Joe Biden has announced his selection for the potential 47th president. If Biden is elected in November, Kamala Harris will very likely be our president before he finishes his first term. His choice will certainly give her great advantage for becoming the Democratic nominee in 2024. Consider what we know about her.

Harris meets the minimum specification of being a black female, but she is not African American. Her father, Donald Harris, immigrated from Jamaica, and her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, immigrated from India. Neither was naturalized as a U.S. citizen. Harris, being born in Oakland, California, is a citizen by birth. She is 55. Her mother, a civil rights activist, died in 2009. Her father, also a civil rights activist, is a Stanford professor of Keynesian Economics, a socialist-leaning economic theory of big government spending to control the economy. Her sister, Maya Harris is a lawyer, MSNBC political commentator, and former Hillary Clinton policy advisor. So, Kamala’s family influences have been socialism, civil rights activism, and Hillary Clinton politics.

Harris is married to entertainment lawyer, Douglas Emhoff. He was previously married and has two young adult children. Kamala has no biological children.

Harris’s mother was of the Hindu faith. “Kamala” means “lotus” another name for a Hindu goddess. Her father appears to be of no particular religion. She married Emhoff, a practicing Jew, in a Jewish wedding ceremony officiated by her sister. Although she was raised on Hindu practices in the home, a family friend often took her to an African American protestant church. She claims to be Christian, but distances herself from evangelical Christian values.

Harris got her career start in 1994 when San Francisco mayor, Willie Brown, named her to the California Medical Assistance Commission. Her affair with Brown while he was married was acknowledged publicly by the mayor. The Los Angeles Times reported on her as, “Brown’s girlfriend.” Her elective office career began in 2004 when she became District Attorney of San Francisco. She went on to become California’s Attorney General in 2010 after an election fraught with scandal.

In 2016, Harris won the California U.S. Senate race to succeed outgoing Senator Barbara Boxer. She quickly gained a national profile as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee with emotionally-charged, pointed questioning of Jeff Sessions, William Barr, and Brett Kavanaugh. As a senator, she has taken positions supporting the following initiatives:

  • Abolish capital punishment
  • Eliminate mandatory minimum sentences
  • Eliminate private prisons
  • Mandate paper ballots
  • Subsidize renters and homeowners
  • Study reparations
  • Ban assault weapons
  • Allow few, if any, limits on abortions
  • Legalize marijuana
  • Scrap past pot convictions
  • Bring all troops home
  • Increase corporate taxes
  • Cut military funding
  • Stop border wall building
  • Implement universal healthcare

Watch Democrats try to paint her as a moderate, just as they have Biden. She will distance herself from the radical left in speeches and interviews. But don’t be fooled. She is a career California politician steeped in leftist dogma. As for integrity, she leaves a trail of scandal and corruption in the wake of her unbridled ambition. As for world view, she will pursue the redirection of America toward Socialism. As for political aspiration, this week begins her campaign for president in 2024 with her hope that it might come sooner.

I believe there is great likelihood that Biden, if elected, will not be able to complete his first term considering his age and cognitive issues. The scenario of his stepping down prematurely as President Kamala Harris moves into the Oval Office has some Democratic movers and shakers salivating.

Hopelessly Divided?

America is divided as in no other time since the Civil War. National dissonance has metastasized far beyond political competitiveness. It is now a schism between patriotism and anarchism. Americans are forced to choose between traditional American values and an aggressive movement toward socialist anarchy.

I have tried for months to avoid seeing this movement for what it is, convincing myself that the radical anti-American faction was just a fringe culture–a splinter group. But it has become obvious that half of our nation has aligned with this attack on our traditional values. The moderately conservative Democratic party of a few decades ago is now the socialistic anarchist party of today.

Anarchy may seem to be an over-the-top description of the movement drawing in half of our country, but let’s take a hard look at reality. Anarchy is defined as disorder due to the absence of government authority or simply the absence of order–chaos. It is more than rioting and lawlessness. Here is what it looks like in America today.

  • Democrat leaders refusing to stop constant rioting, killing, and property destruction in most major cities
  • Democrats describing the riots, occupations, and violence as myths
  • Democrat leaders de-funding, restraining, and disestablishing the police
  • Democrats inciting racism by political pandering to minorities
  • Democrat leaders declaring many major cities as sanctuaries for harboring illegal immigrants and criminals
  • Democratic controlled media reporting with a totally liberal bias and censoring conservative voices
  • Democrats paralyzing government with a three-year, $40M investigation of the president based on known contrived evidence
  • Democrats impeaching the president over false claims and doing everything else possible to de-legitimize his presidency
  • Democratic Congressional “Squad” calling for the dismantling of our economy and political system as other Democrats follow their lead
  • Democrats pursuing gun control and confiscation
  • Democrats trying to abolish the electoral system so a few highly populated liberal states would elect every president
  • Democrats by the tens of millions supporting an avowed Socialist presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders
  • Democratic university and high school educators teaching radical social concepts and revisionist history to confused students
  • Democrats holding kangaroo court hearings of the president’s cabinet members with constant attacks while disallowing responses
  • Democrats insisting on trillions more dollars for Covid-19 economic stimulus risking unmanageable national debt for political advantage
  • Democrats using delay tactics to slow the reopening of the economy and suppressing promising drugs
  • Democrats keeping their presidential candidate, Joe Biden, from public appearances to hide his real agenda and lack of capacity for leadership
  • Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden, claiming he would be the most progressive (revolutionary) president in history

I could go on, but I’ll stop there. All of these moves are attempts weaken or abolish America as we know it.

Democratic rhetoric and actions of late define anarchy as a demonstration of love, rioting as peaceful protests, civility as weakness, lawlessness as an appropriate objective, destruction of property as a right, and the free market as racist.

I don’t believe there has ever been a time in our nation’s history when the words of Isaiah have been more descriptive: Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight! …Who justify wicked for a bribe, and take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!

The battle for the soul of America has become a battle for the survival of America. We must pray more fervently than ever before for the containment of anarchy in our country. We are not without hope, but victory will only come from the Lord. So pray and act as you are guided. Vote against the attempt to abolish all that our great nation stands for.

How To Choose Between Two Flawed Men

Which flawed man: Trump or Biden?

Let’s face it, each of the presidential candidates leaves a lot to be desired. Yet we have to choose one to lead the greatest nation in the world for the next four years. If you love your country, you will vote. When you vote, don’t look at the man; look at what the man brings with him. Here are some crucial considerations.

The incumbent president and the former vice president are probably two of the most flawed men to ever run for the sacred office of President of the United States.

One has held elected office in the highest echelons of government for 44 years with little positive impact on anything. He has a reputation of lying and political deception along with other moral issues. He will be the oldest presidential nominee ever. He has serious cognitive issues.

The other is an incurable egotist whom some psychologists would classify as a narcissist. He has a reputation for being untruthful. He has a history of moral failures. He is unpredictable. He entered the presidency as the oldest man to initially occupy the oval office.

All of us are flawed. We are all defective. But Americans expect our choices for president to be less defective than these two. This year in particular, we must not vote for the candidate, but for everything the candidate represents–the principles, platform, world view, influence, and ideology that will be ensconced with the position. This election is not about who is worthy of the position, but what the position will do for America and for each of us and our families.

Furthermore, each of these flawed men will be heavily influenced by and obligated to a lot of other powerful people. One will give attention to and favor the far left socialist factions of our nation. The other will listen to and lean toward the extreme conservatives. These relationships will heavily influence judicial nominations, foreign affairs, domestic policy, government control, federal spending, and social programs. We must choose which half of a divided America will have the greatest access to the White House.

So, as you watch, listen, and read about these two flawed men, think beyond the two individuals. Think about which individual will move America closer to the nation you want it to be.

Who Is Joe Biden?

joebiden

It looks like Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee for president. We should know a lot about him, since he has held political office longer than two-thirds of America’s people have lived. We may think we know Joe, but let’s take a close look at who this man was and is.

Vice President Biden was born on November 20, 1942. He grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Biden, Sr., a used car salesman, and Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Biden. In 1955, his family moved to Mayfield, Delaware, a blue-collar community where almost everyone worked for DuPont chemical company. As a teenager, he work to help pay his tuition to the prestigious Archmere Academy.  He became a standout football player described by his coach as one of the best pass receivers of his 16 year coaching career.

He studied history and political science while playing football for the University of Delaware Blue Hens. He admits he was more interested in girls and partying than academics and barely qualified for law school. The inauguration of President Kennedy inspired him enter Syracuse University Law School in 1965. The next year, he married Niellia Hunter with whom he says he fell in love at first sight. A mediocre law student, he flunked one of his first classes for not citing a reference on an assignment. He managed to graduate and pass the bar exam, then moved to Wilmington, Delaware to practice law.

He immediately became an active member of the Democratic Party and was elected in 1970 to the New Castle County Council. From there, his political life would continue unbroken to this day. In 1972, at just 29 years of age, he ran a long-shot race for the U.S. Senate to unseat a popular Republican incumbent, J. Caleb Boggs. His narrow victory made him the fifth youngest senator in the nation’s history. That year, just a week before Christmas, his wife and daughter, Naomi, were killed in a terrible car accident while Christmas shopping. His two sons, Beau and Hunter, were severely injured. Devastated to the point of considering suicide, Joe desired to withdraw from the Senate seat, but his family and friends convinced him to honor his commitment to the voters. Considering his family situation, he decided to commute to Washington from Wilmington by train. This commute continued for his 36 straight years in the senate.

Biden married his second wife, Jill Jacobs, in 1977, and they had a daughter, Ashley, born in 1981. Jill Biden has a PhD in education. In 2015, Joe Biden suffered another personal loss when his son, Beau, died at age 46 after battling brain cancer.

In 1987, Joe decided to run for president, but dropped out of the primary after reports that he plagiarized part of a speech. He had been suffering headaches during the campaign, and doctors diagnosed two life-threatening brain aneurysms requiring surgery. After seven months of recovery, he resumed his senate obligations.

Twenty years later, the senator once again ran for the presidency. However, his 35 years in the senate failed to create enough support to overcome the field dominated by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He dropped out after receiving less than 1% of the Iowa caucuses votes. A few months later, the victorious Obama selected Biden for his running mate. His job was to help the low-experienced Obama convince the blue collar workers he could recover the sluggish economy. The duo prevailed in victory.

Vice President Biden’s main wheel house was behind-the-scenes advisor to the president in foreign affairs and financial policy. He is credited in hammering out negotiations with Russia and tax increases with the Congress. He was also a leading figure in the national gun control debate.

His climb to the top of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race has been fraught with many issues. His alleged Ukraine scandal to enrich his son, Hunter, plus Hunter’s other misdeeds are constant drags on his campaign. His age at inauguration, if elected, would be 78, eight years older than the next oldest newly elected president in our history…Donald Trump. Biden would be 82 at the end of his first term, older than 98% of all Americans. A lot of speculation is stirring about his health, particularly his mental acuity at that age. Many go so far as questioning his mental state, even suggesting he has the onset of dementia or alzheimer’s. These assessments are mostly based on his exponential increase in verbal gaffes.

Although Joe has been gaffe-prone most of his life, he seems to be stockpiling the incidents of late. Here are just a few examples from his present campaign rhetoric:

  • Calling his opponent, Julian Castro, “Cisneros”
  • “You can’t, in fact, preach to the choir if you can’t sing.”
  • “I’m going to make sure that we rejoin the Paris Peace Accord on day one.” (The Paris Peace Accord was the treaty to end the Vietnam War)
  • Saying he went to college at Delaware State (a historically black college) instead of University of Delaware
  • Claimed that over 40 students were shot at Kent State in 1970 (actually only four)
  • Confusing Iraq and Syria
  • “We have to start rewarding work, not just wealth. I would eliminate the capital gains tax.”
  • “Why in God’s name should someone who’s clipping coupons in the stock market pay a lower tax rate than someone who is a school teacher and a firefighter.”
  • Claimed his policy would put more than 720 million American women to work
  • “My health plan is not quality and will increase premiums.”
  • “Who is Boris Johnson?”
  • Told a moving story about pinning a Silver Star on an elderly Navy captain in Afghanistan. When the statement was challenged as being totally false, he said the central point of the story was correct.
  • “We choose truth over facts.”
  • “Poor kids are just as bright as white kids.”
  • Referring to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, he said he remembered when the Parkland kids came to see him in Washington when he was vice president. (The Parkland shootings were in 2018, over a year after Trump took office.)
  • “What’s not to like about Vermont?” (He was in New Hampshire.)
  • “It’s a three-letter word: jobs.”
  • Recently declared, “I’m running for U.S. Senate!”

Many political pundits say the Democrats are going to Biden because he is the moderate choice. I suppose he is moderate compared to Bernie, but, make no mistake, he has spent his career pursuing liberal policies. He is far left of center. Joe Biden has had many personal and political challenges in his life and has shown amazing resilience. The question is, do we want a life-long, very old liberal politician who has never known anything but beltway politics since law school. He is ensconced in the swamp and may have serious mental issues. America has a crucial decision to make.

Impeachment Hearing Reality

impeachmenthearing1

I have avoided commenting on the impeachment because it has been so media saturated. However, after watching much of the first day of the televised hearing, I must make a few observations. Never in my life have I witnessed such a brazen attempt to invalidate the majority will of the people. True patriotic Americans must stand against this elitist liberal majority in Congress who are denying Democracy.

In 2016, Americans elected one of the most unusual candidates for president in our nation’s history. President Donald J. Trump won 57% to 43%. His victory so shocked most Democrats, many were talking impeachment before he even assumed office. Since his election in 2016, liberals have been obsessed with impeaching this duly elected president any way they can. When the two-year, over $25,000,000 Mueller investigation flopped, the desperate Dems had to come up with something else quickly to ensure he didn’t win a second term. The best they could do was to make something huge out of almost nothing in the president’s dealings with the president of Ukraine.

The problem Democrats and a scant few Republicans have with President Trump boils down to his unorthodox businessman approach to running this country. He is not playing by the norms of Washington and is a threat to the establishment, often called the “deep state.” America did something in 2016 that had never been done before. The majority got so fed up with Washington’s incompetence and lack of accountability, they opted for an outsider businessman who would bring fresh ideas to governing and would not be intimidated by the politically ensconced establishment.

That out-of-the-political-mainstream president America elected has produced the best economy in decades, strengthened the military, re-established our respect abroad, reassured domestic freedoms, streamlined governing processes, and refocused the nation’s priorities toward Christianity. He has without question kept his campaign promise to “make America great again.” Granted, these national advancements have come with some consternation involving many people’s concept of how the nation’s leader should behave. This is evident in the current impeachment debacle.

President Trump came to the White House as a wealthy business man, not a seasoned politician. Regarding the Ukraine issue, he stretched the political norm by engaging in personal, back-channel negotiations with another head of state in what might seem more like a business deal than a diplomatic action. Our president has acted in both domestic and international exchanges more out of business pragmatism than out of political expediency. This alternative diplomacy, celebrated by most conservatives, is being flagged by the liberals as bribery and extortion–a giant leap from reality. I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures from today’s Democrats.

The president had good reasons to pursue investigation of Ukraine’s past corrupt business dealings that have hurt the United States. The fact that his potential opponent, Vice President Biden as well as his son, were likely involved in some related shady activities added to his incentive to investigate. However, there is no law to prevent him from doing so. If anything was broken here, it was only precedent, not law. The substantive issue is whether the president withheld foreign aid approved by Congress for Ukraine in exchange for an investigation by that country–a so-called “quid pro quo.” Although, he obliquely implied to Ukraine’s president Zelensky that the aid would follow the commitment to an investigation involving the Bidens, the aid was delivered without such a commitment. The businessman Trump apparently used the aid temporarily as an incentive for Zelensky to investigate, but wisely never intended to make it a quid pro quo.

The Democrats’ problem is two-fold. First, they can’t get past the election loss that set back their liberal socialist agenda. Secondly, they just can’t stomach the undiplomatic maneuvering and the unconventional methods being used successfully by the president. Even though it is ultimately in the best interests of America, his methodology counters much of the tradition the establishment has learned to operate within. These changes in technique reduce the power of his opponents. How dare an outsider sit in the oval office and operate from a whole new paradigm! What they don’t seem to grasp is that the same majority that elected this “renegade” likes what he is doing and will vote for him again. The Democrats’ determination to take Trump down is only feeding the Republicans’ determination to give him a second term.

I predict the Democratic majority House will impeach President Trump regardless of how irrational that is. Then, the Senate impeachment trial will exonerate him leaving him in office for the rest of this term. The majority of Americans will be so disgusted with the Democrats, they will hand a landslide victory to the president next year. The Democrats’ unprecedented hatred for our president will be their demise.

The last three years of American politics have been a laughing stock for the entire world to see. Our political process resembles that of a third-world country. We should all be embarrassed. I sure am.
