Who Is Joe Biden?

It looks like Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee for president. We should know a lot about him, since he has held political office longer than two-thirds of America’s people have lived. We may think we know Joe, but let’s take a close look at who this man was and is.

Vice President Biden was born on November 20, 1942. He grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph Biden, Sr., a used car salesman, and Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Biden. In 1955, his family moved to Mayfield, Delaware, a blue-collar community where almost everyone worked for DuPont chemical company. As a teenager, he work to help pay his tuition to the prestigious Archmere Academy.  He became a standout football player described by his coach as one of the best pass receivers of his 16 year coaching career.

He studied history and political science while playing football for the University of Delaware Blue Hens. He admits he was more interested in girls and partying than academics and barely qualified for law school. The inauguration of President Kennedy inspired him enter Syracuse University Law School in 1965. The next year, he married Niellia Hunter with whom he says he fell in love at first sight. A mediocre law student, he flunked one of his first classes for not citing a reference on an assignment. He managed to graduate and pass the bar exam, then moved to Wilmington, Delaware to practice law.

He immediately became an active member of the Democratic Party and was elected in 1970 to the New Castle County Council. From there, his political life would continue unbroken to this day. In 1972, at just 29 years of age, he ran a long-shot race for the U.S. Senate to unseat a popular Republican incumbent, J. Caleb Boggs. His narrow victory made him the fifth youngest senator in the nation’s history. That year, just a week before Christmas, his wife and daughter, Naomi, were killed in a terrible car accident while Christmas shopping. His two sons, Beau and Hunter, were severely injured. Devastated to the point of considering suicide, Joe desired to withdraw from the Senate seat, but his family and friends convinced him to honor his commitment to the voters. Considering his family situation, he decided to commute to Washington from Wilmington by train. This commute continued for his 36 straight years in the senate.

Biden married his second wife, Jill Jacobs, in 1977, and they had a daughter, Ashley, born in 1981. Jill Biden has a PhD in education. In 2015, Joe Biden suffered another personal loss when his son, Beau, died at age 46 after battling brain cancer.

In 1987, Joe decided to run for president, but dropped out of the primary after reports that he plagiarized part of a speech. He had been suffering headaches during the campaign, and doctors diagnosed two life-threatening brain aneurysms requiring surgery. After seven months of recovery, he resumed his senate obligations.

Twenty years later, the senator once again ran for the presidency. However, his 35 years in the senate failed to create enough support to overcome the field dominated by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. He dropped out after receiving less than 1% of the Iowa caucuses votes. A few months later, the victorious Obama selected Biden for his running mate. His job was to help the low-experienced Obama convince the blue collar workers he could recover the sluggish economy. The duo prevailed in victory.

Vice President Biden’s main wheel house was behind-the-scenes advisor to the president in foreign affairs and financial policy. He is credited in hammering out negotiations with Russia and tax increases with the Congress. He was also a leading figure in the national gun control debate.

His climb to the top of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary race has been fraught with many issues. His alleged Ukraine scandal to enrich his son, Hunter, plus Hunter’s other misdeeds are constant drags on his campaign. His age at inauguration, if elected, would be 78, eight years older than the next oldest newly elected president in our history…Donald Trump. Biden would be 82 at the end of his first term, older than 98% of all Americans. A lot of speculation is stirring about his health, particularly his mental acuity at that age. Many go so far as questioning his mental state, even suggesting he has the onset of dementia or alzheimer’s. These assessments are mostly based on his exponential increase in verbal gaffes.

Although Joe has been gaffe-prone most of his life, he seems to be stockpiling the incidents of late. Here are just a few examples from his present campaign rhetoric:

  • Calling his opponent, Julian Castro, “Cisneros”
  • “You can’t, in fact, preach to the choir if you can’t sing.”
  • “I’m going to make sure that we rejoin the Paris Peace Accord on day one.” (The Paris Peace Accord was the treaty to end the Vietnam War)
  • Saying he went to college at Delaware State (a historically black college) instead of University of Delaware
  • Claimed that over 40 students were shot at Kent State in 1970 (actually only four)
  • Confusing Iraq and Syria
  • “We have to start rewarding work, not just wealth. I would eliminate the capital gains tax.”
  • “Why in God’s name should someone who’s clipping coupons in the stock market pay a lower tax rate than someone who is a school teacher and a firefighter.”
  • Claimed his policy would put more than 720 million American women to work
  • “My health plan is not quality and will increase premiums.”
  • “Who is Boris Johnson?”
  • Told a moving story about pinning a Silver Star on an elderly Navy captain in Afghanistan. When the statement was challenged as being totally false, he said the central point of the story was correct.
  • “We choose truth over facts.”
  • “Poor kids are just as bright as white kids.”
  • Referring to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, he said he remembered when the Parkland kids came to see him in Washington when he was vice president. (The Parkland shootings were in 2018, over a year after Trump took office.)
  • “What’s not to like about Vermont?” (He was in New Hampshire.)
  • “It’s a three-letter word: jobs.”
  • Recently declared, “I’m running for U.S. Senate!”

Many political pundits say the Democrats are going to Biden because he is the moderate choice. I suppose he is moderate compared to Bernie, but, make no mistake, he has spent his career pursuing liberal policies. He is far left of center. Joe Biden has had many personal and political challenges in his life and has shown amazing resilience. The question is, do we want a life-long, very old liberal politician who has never known anything but beltway politics since law school. He is ensconced in the swamp and may have serious mental issues. America has a crucial decision to make.

Impeachment Hearing Reality

impeachmenthearing1

I have avoided commenting on the impeachment because it has been so media saturated. However, after watching much of the first day of the televised hearing, I must make a few observations. Never in my life have I witnessed such a brazen attempt to invalidate the majority will of the people. True patriotic Americans must stand against this elitist liberal majority in Congress who are denying Democracy.

In 2016, Americans elected one of the most unusual candidates for president in our nation’s history. President Donald J. Trump won 57% to 43%. His victory so shocked most Democrats, many were talking impeachment before he even assumed office. Since his election in 2016, liberals have been obsessed with impeaching this duly elected president any way they can. When the two-year, over $25,000,000 Mueller investigation flopped, the desperate Dems had to come up with something else quickly to ensure he didn’t win a second term. The best they could do was to make something huge out of almost nothing in the president’s dealings with the president of Ukraine.

The problem Democrats and a scant few Republicans have with President Trump boils down to his unorthodox businessman approach to running this country. He is not playing by the norms of Washington and is a threat to the establishment, often called the “deep state.” America did something in 2016 that had never been done before. The majority got so fed up with Washington’s incompetence and lack of accountability, they opted for an outsider businessman who would bring fresh ideas to governing and would not be intimidated by the politically ensconced establishment.

That out-of-the-political-mainstream president America elected has produced the best economy in decades, strengthened the military, re-established our respect abroad, reassured domestic freedoms, streamlined governing processes, and refocused the nation’s priorities toward Christianity. He has without question kept his campaign promise to “make America great again.” Granted, these national advancements have come with some consternation involving many people’s concept of how the nation’s leader should behave. This is evident in the current impeachment debacle.

President Trump came to the White House as a wealthy business man, not a seasoned politician. Regarding the Ukraine issue, he stretched the political norm by engaging in personal, back-channel negotiations with another head of state in what might seem more like a business deal than a diplomatic action. Our president has acted in both domestic and international exchanges more out of business pragmatism than out of political expediency. This alternative diplomacy, celebrated by most conservatives, is being flagged by the liberals as bribery and extortion–a giant leap from reality. I suppose desperate times call for desperate measures from today’s Democrats.

The president had good reasons to pursue investigation of Ukraine’s past corrupt business dealings that have hurt the United States. The fact that his potential opponent, Vice President Biden as well as his son, were likely involved in some related shady activities added to his incentive to investigate. However, there is no law to prevent him from doing so. If anything was broken here, it was only precedent, not law. The substantive issue is whether the president withheld foreign aid approved by Congress for Ukraine in exchange for an investigation by that country–a so-called “quid pro quo.” Although, he obliquely implied to Ukraine’s president Zelensky that the aid would follow the commitment to an investigation involving the Bidens, the aid was delivered without such a commitment. The businessman Trump apparently used the aid temporarily as an incentive for Zelensky to investigate, but wisely never intended to make it a quid pro quo.

The Democrats’ problem is two-fold. First, they can’t get past the election loss that set back their liberal socialist agenda. Secondly, they just can’t stomach the undiplomatic maneuvering and the unconventional methods being used successfully by the president. Even though it is ultimately in the best interests of America, his methodology counters much of the tradition the establishment has learned to operate within. These changes in technique reduce the power of his opponents. How dare an outsider sit in the oval office and operate from a whole new paradigm! What they don’t seem to grasp is that the same majority that elected this “renegade” likes what he is doing and will vote for him again. The Democrats’ determination to take Trump down is only feeding the Republicans’ determination to give him a second term.

I predict the Democratic majority House will impeach President Trump regardless of how irrational that is. Then, the Senate impeachment trial will exonerate him leaving him in office for the rest of this term. The majority of Americans will be so disgusted with the Democrats, they will hand a landslide victory to the president next year. The Democrats’ unprecedented hatred for our president will be their demise.

The last three years of American politics have been a laughing stock for the entire world to see. Our political process resembles that of a third-world country. We should all be embarrassed. I sure am.

The Lowest Low in American Politics Just Happened

I have thought many times over the past year that our political landscape couldn’t get any worse. Every time I was wrong–it got worse. The past week has been the worst yet. I never thought I would see America’s top liberal leaders stoop so low. Now, a Republican Senator has given the Democrats another week to wield a death blow to a dying confirmation process. This is the new low of the left’s destructive hold on America.

I do believe Dr. Ford experienced some kind of traumatic sexual assault as a teen. Surely no one could lie with such passion if she really didn’t think in her heart and soul that it happened as she told it. However, evidence, or lack of evidence, convinces me that somehow a psychological manifestation has twisted the facts in her personal remembrance of the experience. I also, believe Judge Kavanaugh is truthful as clearly evidenced by testimony, documentation, and reputation.

This week’s farcical circus of a Senate confirmation for Judge Kavanaugh has made a sham of fundamental Constitutional law. The two most basic principles of American law are innocent until proven guilty and the burden of proof is on the accuser. Yet, with no corroboration of the accuser’s allegation and overwhelming testimony to the innocence of the accused, the Senate Democrats have done everything imaginable to bestow sainthood on the accuser and demonize the accused.

America anticipated a fair hearing. What was played out in the homes of millions of viewers was deceptive politics, ego mania, partisan maneuvering for the mid-term election, and hate for the President. All this was done with total disregard for the toll it took on the lives of the two people testifying. It was never about Kavanaugh and Ford. It was about the leftist egoists on the committee and their panic attack over the potential return of the Supreme Court to the Constitution.

At the conclusion of the highly charged and embarrassing hearing, reasonable minds were about to prevail in what should have been a committee vote to proceed and a likely floor vote to confirm. Then, the bombshell. Republican Senator Flake, under extreme pressure from a Democrat close friend and a few radical women, brought the rightful move toward timely confirmation to a screeching halt. An additional FBI investigation the Democrats had been screaming for all week, but just short of getting, was handed to them on a platter–by a Republican. That gave two other Republicans a pass to jump on the bandwagon of redundant investigation.

The week-long delay for yet another FBI investigation of spurious accusations will have little to do with getting to the truth, and everything to do with Democrats buying time to think up another tactic. Since the hearing didn’t swing enough votes to deny the President’s nomination despite their theatrics, the Democrats desperately needed time to regroup. Over the next week, don’t expect to see the Democrats sit quietly awaiting the FBI report. We will see a feeding frenzy of hundreds of fanatics dispatched from sea to shining sea to find something, anything, that could possibly support their objective or justify further delay. When the week ends, we will see the Democrats with all kinds of reasons to demand further time. Their immediate objective is to avoid a floor vote until after the election in hopes of that big blue wave. Their ultimate objective is to deal a devastating blow to the President. Participation by Democrats in the whole confirmation process has been a means to that end.

If the vast majority of Americans can’t see this for what it is, we are in even bigger trouble than I had thought. A huge liberal-socialist faction has been mushrooming in this country for several years led by a liberal bureaucracy and fueled by the liberal media. Their agenda is to transform America into an immoral, socialist, atheistic society that will destroy us from within. It is becoming more than a conservative President and a few truly conservative Congressmen can defend against. I’m becoming less confident that the good people in this country will have the stomach and back bone to protect and preserve our democracy and freedom for their children and grandchildren.

My only real hope is that I know the all-knowing God isn’t fooled by any of this. His will ultimately prevails. But the scriptures teach that He works through His people. The vote is the most powerful weapon we have. Encourage everyone you know to keep America strong by voting for brave, unwavering, and godly men and women to represent us. Men and women who will stand up for the Constitution and our time-proven principles and values.

Post-Blue-Wave America

The historical shift away from the President’s party in midterm congressional elections will happen eight weeks from now if conservatives don’t storm the voting booths in record numbers. It’s all about turnout, and the liberals are building momentum. If conservatives fail to uncharacteristically overwhelm the polls, here is what post-blue-wave America will look like:

The Democratic majority in the House will reinstate Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

The Democratic majority in the Senate will elect Chuck Schumer as Senate Majority Leader

Congress will immediately begin the impeachment process for President Trump. He will not be removed from office, but the process will supersede all other congressional initiatives for months rendering the presidency almost powerless.

All White House proposals will be dead on arrival in Congress, and all conservative bills will die in committee for the next two years.

The Trump tax cuts will be reversed resulting in economic downturn, stalled GDP growth, recession, and rocketing unemployment.

The Socialism preference of the majority of Democrats (57% according to last month’s Gallup Poll) will begin to shift our nation away from Capitalism and toward Socialism as Senators and Representative appease their constituents. The likes of Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be the new faces of the majority Democrat Party.

Any future Supreme Court nominee–and there will likely be at least one more from this President–will not be approved by the Senate. Any vacancy in the Court will probably not be filled during the remaining term of this presidency.

The present rate of movement to the extreme left by radical liberals will increase exponentially on its way to becoming the established culture of the nation.

Illegal immigration will go virtually unabated with open borders, the U.S. Border Patrol and ICE will be severely weakened, and sanctuary cities will grow under government protection. All illegal immigrants will be offered amnesty and citizenship. Criminal activity by illegal immigrants will flourish.

Liberalization of social issues will see America lead the world in abortion, gay marriage, transgender rights, political correctness, suppression of religious freedom, disrespect for family values, etc.

National defense will be weakened as investment in military modernization and growth is reversed making America more vulnerable to Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

The Second Amendment will be largely disregarded as restrictive federal gun control laws are enacted.

Much greater dependence on the government by individuals will be the result of free higher education, free child care and preschool, Obamacare expansion, more people qualified for food stamps, etc. This will increase the national debt and raise taxes significantly.

The minimum wage will increase to $15.00 which will shoot prices upward on all goods and services, launch abnormal inflation, and increase interest rates.

This list is just a small sampling of America under a new radical Democrat majority government. It will not be the Democrat majority Congress of the Clinton years, or even of the Obama years. This will be a new breed of liberal Democrats who have shown their colors clearly in just the last few years. The Neo-Democrats are waging a cultural war to destroy America from within as most of us know it. The Kavanaugh hearings gave us just a hint of what to expect. Conservatives have the ability to ensure this fanatical take-over of America never happens. It is as simple as every conservative in America voting on November 6th. If you’re disappointed in some of the attributes of President Trump, as I am, don’t let that have any bearing on how you vote or whether you vote. You’re not voting for a president; you’re voting for maintaining a congressional majority of conservatives. You’re voting for the very soul of America.
