Grand Scale Spiritual Warfare in America

Today, America is divided more than at any other time since the Civil War. Meanwhile, the world is engaged in protracted wars and conflicts on several fronts. Billions of people around the globe are placing their hope–their only chance of survival–on a perceived strong and stable United States that is actually unraveling. What is happening in America is too irrational and bizarre to be anything but unleased spiritual warfare. Satan knows that, as America goes, so goes the world.

With every succeeding newscast, the mindset and behavior of tens of milllions of Americans demonstrate flourishing insanity. We are getting a daily overdose of lawlessness bordering on anarchy. Misguided political leaders at every level fill our screens with provocative hate speech and calls for disobeying laws and law enforcement. They invoke mayhem. They support criminals and berate crime victims. Protestors and rioters chant slogans and carry signs that show a lack of even a basic knowledge of social and political issues. They only know what they learn from liberal social media and biased mainstream news. They reject proven civil processes and governance in favor of rebellion and violence.

This didn’t happen overnight. Our spiritual enemy is strategic and patient. It began in the late 20th century with a national movement away from biblical morality and respect for authority. But our society digressed into an exponential freefall in family values and civility in 2015 when the highest court in the land legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. My blog post at that time predicted that this single ruling would cast a dark satanic cloud over America that would rapidly move us into deeper separation from God’s protection and blessings. Soon came the transgender focus with children and adolescents in hormonal therapy and subjection to physical mutilation. The sports realm forced females to compete with males in their own sports programs. Showers and locker rooms became co-ed.

Established laws were ignored. Throughout the Biben Administration, our borders were wide open with an estimated 20 million illegal immigrants entering our country mostly unvetted. Many of those who invaded every state were felons from their countries of origin who have continued violent crimes to include human trafficking, rape, and murder.

America has overspent like there is no tomorrow, leaving future generations to pay the bill. Our national debt has more than doubled in the last 10 years and will soon surpass $40 trillion. Most of the borrowed funds have gone to entitlements to individuals and interest on the debt itself (Yes, we are going into debt to pay interest on our debt!).

The only explanation for America, which for over two centuries touted itself as a “Christian nation,” falling so abruptly into such an ungodly culture is our nationwide acceptance of Satan’s influence. His foot-in-the-door of our national character has evolved to a bold entry through the door we have opened widely. This spiritual warfare between good and evil is waging in the lives of American citizens across our land. Law and order is no longer a priority for many liberal cities, and entire blue states have declared themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants. Again, many of these immigrants are hardened, convicted criminals. State and local law enforcement officers are prohibited from assisting lawful federal law enforcement operations. Arrested dangerous perpetrators are being released by the courts immediately. Generally, our nation of laws has become a nation of complete chaos. However, recognition of this spiritual attack is not an excuse for retreat. It is still our sacred responsibility to fight the rebellion.

Thankfully, there is a current surging counter attack in this spiritual war. It is an evangelical revival movement of the greatest magnitude in decades. Pockets of revival in schools and colleges were gaining notice as Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point organization surfaced. I believe Kirk’s assassination was a literal turning point in the nation’s spiritual struggle. However, as Christian momentum builds, the evil deceiver is pulling out all the stops.

The spiritual enemy is irate and has turned up the heat. Hateful behavior, obscene talk and action, totally illogical rhetoric, and the popularity of incompetant, ignorant so-called leaders can be observed at every turn. And these traits are being condemned by few and celebrated by many.

For godly people with rational minds and hearts to prevail, the darkness that dominates our nation and world at present must be overcome. If it continues or worsens, I must assume we are ushering in the end-times tribulation period described in the Bible. We are presently witnessing almost all the biblical harbingers. It wouldn’t take much today to trigger a new world order and a one-world leader–the immediate precursor for the tribulation.

The last words of the Bible are: “He (Jesus) who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” (Revelation 22:20-21 NIV)

A Fourth Great Awakening?

America has had three “Great Awakenings” in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries respectively. God seems to spur His people to wide-spread repentance and spiritual fervor about every hundred years. Although unlike what sparked the first three, responses to the Charlie Kirk assassination over the last several days have rekindled the hopes of Christians that a fourth Great Awakening has begun.

The first Great Awakening covered a period from the 1730s to the 1770s. It was largely led by the passionate preaching of colonial preachers like George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards. Their strong evangelical messages centered on individual relationships with Jesus Christ. They challenged many of the traditional church practices and governance structures. New denominations like Baptists and Methodists grew out of this movement. Thousands turned to faith in Christ and strong commitment to His teachings. The movement is seen by historians as greatly influencing the American Revolution.

The next Great Awakening ignited from the Protestant revivals that peaked during the early 1800s. At the turn of the 19th century, evangelical revivals were spreading like wild fires, mainly among the growing Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches. Out of this spiritual renewal in America sprang new institutions such as presently well-known colleges, seminaries, and mission organizations. Changes of hearts in many Americans contributed to the questioning of the morality of slavery and other national issues. Scholars are still discovering new levels of impact this Awakening had on the Civil War.

Usually considered the last Great Awakening, the third nationwide revival occured during the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Again, it was experienced mostly among the more conservative Protestant denominations. It focused on strict biblical doctrines, living a more holy life, and social activism with emphasis on personal evangelism. An outgrowth of this movement was greater interest in worldwide missions, the Holy Spirit, and Pentecostal spiritual healing and worship. This era saw the enactment of prohibition and the national commitment to World War 1.

For most of my adult life, I have joined other Christians in lamenting that America has not experienced another Great Awakening in our generation. I often hear that God appears to have given up on us in the 21st century. Have Americans not shown enough serious interest in nationwide revival, or in revival, period? Have we drifted so far from God as a nation that He considers us unworthy of His intervention and subject moreso to His wrath? It is not much of a stretch to conclude that we have not just drifted, but rather have fled, from Him over the last several decades. Prior to this year, I had concluded that, instead of looking for the next Great Awakening, we should be preparing for God’s imminent judgment and Christ’s Second Coming.

However (and I’m so thankful for this “however”), observations over the past few months have renewed my hope that America may be healing spiritually. Without getting too political, I’ll just say that I believe our government is beginning to make more morally sound decisions. Many influential Americans are seemingly more comfortable sharing their faith openly. Then there was the tragic assassination of perhaps the most powerful spokesman for Christ in our day, Charlie Kirk.

Most of us didn’t realize the magnitude of influence for Christ and family values this man had on our society, especially the younger generations. That was obvious at his awesome memorial service attended by over 100,000 followers listening to some of the most powerful and prominent people in the world testify to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Cell phone activity monitors showed at least another 100,000 in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. And that is trivial compared to the tens of millions who watched it on television and the internet. It was the biggest revival service in history!

Even more impressive are the 60,000+ requests within hours to form Turning Point USA chapters throughout the country. Charlie Kirk’s assassination and immediate reactions have caused a tsunami of spiritual awareness and interest in the gospel. This could certainly be the catalyst for another Great Awakening across America. Statistical data were showing a turning of our population toward Christ, particularly Gen Z young adults, before Kirk’s untimely death. Now, it appears that trend is on the verge of exploding. We may be seeing an answer to the appeals of millions of prayer warriors during recent years.

Whether this movement erupts into a fourth Great Awakening throughout our land will be known soon. It depends on our letting God work through us. He has surely given us a flame to fan into a raging fire for His Kingdom. This may be a final test for America. Let us pray without ceasing for a massive shift of the population from the pursuit of what the world offers to the ways of Almighty God. Pray and become an activist for Him.

ENOUGH!

Charlie Kirk 1993-2025

I had a timely blog article ready to post when I got the news of Charlie Kirk’s tragic murder. That post can wait. I am so emotionally charged right now that I must make a public statement. For the last few years of liberal Democrat insanity, I have strived to keep my posts civil and respectful when I really wanted to sink to their level of rhetoric and behavior in opposition. But enough is enough.

It is time for all conservative patriots of faith to call out and aggressively oppose the unmitigated madness and hate-filled attacks that have taken over our great nation. Americans can hardly get through a day now without hearing of some senseless, brutal murder by a radicalized killer. The killer is usually a social misfit basket case who is not even supposed to be within our borders. And virtually every time, the perpetrator is an extreme liberal brainwashed by the mainstream media and Democratic extremists. Typically, they are repeat offenders quickly released from previous crimes. Videos of the heinous acts are taken by those who are more interested in filming the brutality than in rescuing the victim. These videos usually show many bystanders sitting or standing around watching without any attempt to stop the deadly violence. What has happened to the sanctity of human life?

Wednesday was the darkest day for our country in a long, long time–and we have had a lot of dark days recently. Charlie Kirk was the predominant spokesman and defender of the young adult and teen conservative, Christian, and familiy values movement. He was a peaceful protagonist. On the national stage, he championed the wholesomeness of biblical character and American heritage. He brought light to the darkness. But the evil ones of this world, including the liberal, hate-spewing politicians were not going to let him influence their coming-of-age generation Z. Their speech and actions influenced a crazed assassin to snuff out the light of a renowned godly man, husband, and father.

Almost all that is going wrong in America today has a common denominator. Our nation’s cultural sicknesses can be diagnosed as having a common catalyst: the misguided radical socialist Democrats. These ultra-liberals appear to hate everything our country represents.

I hope and pray this will be the “Turning Point” for Christian conservatives. If there is still a chance of saving our country, we have to resort to some of the enemy’s tactics. No, not violence, but we have to become angry enough to do whatever it takes to break the grip that the other half of the country has on us. Review your spheres of influence and press into them proclaiming American values and denouncing the hatred, wokeness, and lunacy of the left. Call out sin for what it is. Be courageous enough to denounce publicly the sins of transgenderism, homosexuality, gay marriage, abortion, violence, antisemitism, and thievery. Stop being silent when you see behavior that is patently wrong. Come to anyone’s rescue who is being bullied or attacked. If you don’t have a concealed carry permit, consider getting one. I carry not only to protect myself and my family but also to intervene if someone else’s life is being threatened.

Finally, and this should have been first, pray for God’s intervention to bring His light into this dark world of spiritual warfare. Pray for peace and security in the America He graciously gave us to steward and preserve. Pray for His protection as we do what we can to protect ourselves and others. I believe God may be waiting to act in a mighty way until He sees us collectively rise up out of desperation to take our country–His country–back.
