About

I’ve been blessed with a broad area of expertise and interest over my lifetime from a diverse background and a wide range of experience. I love to write and have recently released a novel, Daniel: Prophet at the King’s Command. It is published by Ambassador International Publishers. The extensively researched novel is based on the prophet of the Bible and will entertain, inspire, and enlighten you.

I served 24 years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force retiring with the rank of colonel. In the Air Force, I served as a C-130 aircraft pilot instructor, war planner at the Pentagon, Congressional testimony assistant to the four-star Commander-in-chief of European Forces, and commander of an Airlift Wing at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas.

Returning to civilian life, I was called to become the executive pastor of Crossgate Church, a large congregation in Hot Springs, Arkansas. After nine years, I had a two year stint as general manager of a nationally syndicated cable television show, Adventure Bound Outdoors.

I combined my passions for faith and flying by authoring a Christian book popular with pilots titled, The Aviator’s Devotional.

Then, as founder and president of the Connie Thompson Foundation, I managed the charity’s outreach and support for cancer patients. This effort was initiated after the devastating loss of my former wife, Connie, to cancer in 2001. During this time, I wrote the book, A New Strategy for the War on Cancer, which was about the emerging new options for cancer treatment.

My BSBA degree was from the University of Arkansas. During my first Air Force assignment, I earned an MBA degree from Oklahoma City University. I also completed The Executive Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden College of Business and graduated from the National War College at Ft. McNair, Washington, D.C.

God now has me serving as an elder for Crossgate Church and a congressional delegate for the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC).

My precious and amazing wife, Linda, and I love our blended family of three sons and a daughter who have graced us with eight adorable grandchildren.

The Blog

I think you’ll love my blog posts of intriguing, diverse, and sometimes controversial topics that impact all Americans. The topics provide insight into the ever-changing landscape of our nation’s culture. They highlight my writing projects, current news reports, the economy, religion, history, the military, and health. They are meant to be informative, inspiring, thought-provoking, and cautionary. They will not necessarily be politically correct or complimentary, but they will be civil and respectful. Hopefully, they will generate dialogue and counterpoint.

The purpose of my blog is not to change your mind or your position on anything. It is to provide thought for further formulation of your opinions and to present insight for better understanding of the issues we face daily.

America is a miracle of God. To quote Mike Huckabee, there is no explanation for this country outside the providence of God. The people of the United States are tremendously blessed to be the most affluent, most benevolent, most powerful, and most liberated people in the history of mankind.  Yet our nation is threatened by many enemies, external and internal, and an abundance of misguided and misunderstood ideologies. This country must be protected and preserved for our future generations at all cost. We Americans are at a crossroads of discernment. We must be seekers of truth and wisdom. We must understand what makes our nation great and be devoted to maintaining that greatness. This blog’s purpose is in pursuit of that understanding and devotion. With apologies to Superman, this blog is dedicated to truth, justice, and the American way. I encourage you to subscribe to my blog, so you will never miss a post.

  1. Col Thompson I’m rereading your Aviator’s Devotional for a second time after several years away from aviation (but not God). What a joy!! Thanks so much for these Christ centered devotions. LCDR Jack Baber, USN Retired.

    1. I assume from your comment your dad has passed away. If so, please accept my condolences. If there is anything I can do for you at this time, please let me know. I admire and appreciate what you are doing for the National Monument of the Forefathers.
