AARP vs AMAC

If you are over 50, particularly if you are a member of AARP, you may want to rethink that organization. AARP was once a respectable voice for the interests of seniors. They worked in Washington, D.C. to advocate the causes of those in retirement or approaching retirement. They also offered many services for this age group. Unfortunately, they have become an arm of the liberal movement in America and have lost touch with their mainstream members. The conservative alternative, AMAC, is a popular competitor and worthy of your consideration.

If you have turned 50, no doubt you have received numerous appeals for you to join the American Association of Retired Persons, or AARP. For many years, they have lobbied Congress on issues related to this 50+ demographic. They offer appealing services and discounts for such things as travel, dining, insurance, health services, etc. I paid their reasonable fee and joined the organization as soon as I crossed that half-century mark. Then, in my early 60’s, I began to see some things in their literature and magazine that troubled me. They were leading the charge in promoting Obama’s policies. The further I looked, more was revealed about their liberal institutional values and principles. They are now trying to convince their members of President Biden’s failed agenda and are supporting much of today’s woke culture. They are leftist leaning in almost every aspect of their operations. Since most of us 50+ folks are conservatives, I have to conclude that AARP is not working for the majority of us.

I began hearing about the Association of Mature American Citizens, AMAC, about ten years ago. It was founded 13 years ago by a great patriot and Christian business man, the late Dan Weber, and has rapidly grown to over two million members. Its values and principles are conservative, and it advances both God and country. Rebecca Weber, daughter of Dan Weber, is the president and CEO of AMAC. She is a faithful, outspoken Christian as are AMAC’s top executives. AMAC has an active operations office in Washington, D.C. and administrative offices in New York and Florida. Its lobbyists work aggressively on Capitol Hill in the interests of the senior adult population. They are supporting conservative initiatives in general and conservative values of senior Americans in particular. They offer essentially the same services and discounts as AARP for about the same low annual fee. AMAC’s political action strategy includes a unique grass roots effort. An AMAC Delegate is appointed for each congressional district across America. I am the volunteer Delegate for Arkansas’ 4th District. Like other delegates, I am obligated to meet with my congressman, Bruce Westerman, periodically to discuss issues of importance to seniors and to promote AMAC’s position on those issues. This helps keep our country’s congressmen focused on their senior constituents. Delegates also work with their respective senators.

As AMAC Delegates, my wife, Linda, and I attend the annual delegate conference in Florida. It is repeatedly one of the most uplifting and refreshing events I ever participate in. It always advances my confidence in America’s traditional values and inspires me to stay in the fight for freedom and democracy.

AARP has been around for many years and has a large membership. Their sheer size gives them a significant advantage in Washington. Therefore, it is important that conservatives shift this lobbying power balance away from AARP and toward AMAC. So, if you are on the back side of 50, I urge you to go to AMAC’s website, https://amac.us, read all about it, and become a member. It’s an outstanding organization working on your behalf for everything you hold dear.

Now Is the Best Time to Join AMAC!

If you are a member of AARP, you may want to rethink that organization. AARP was once a respectable voice for the interests of seniors. Unfortunately, they have become an arm of the liberal movement in America and have lost touch with their mainstream members. The conservative alternative, AMAC, is worthy of your consideration. I urge you to join this worthy organization for those 50 and over.

If you fit this age category, you may have joined or have received appeals for you to join the American Association of Retired Persons, or AARP. For many years, they have lobbied Congress on issues related to the 50+ demographic. They offer appealing services and discounts for such things as travel, dining, insurance, health services, etc. I paid their reasonable fee and joined the organization as soon as I crossed that half-century mark. Then, a few years ago, I began to see some things in their literature and magazine that troubled me. They led the charge in promoting Obamacare. They have maneuvered against President Trump on almost every political issue. The further I looked, more was revealed about their liberal institutional values and principles. They support abortion and LGBT initiatives. They are leftist leaning in almost every aspect of their operations. Since most of us 50+ folks are conservatives, I had to conclude that AARP, while benefiting us in some ways, is working against the majority of us on issues that really matter. Then I began hearing about the Association of Mature American Citizens, AMAC.

AMAC was founded twelve years ago by a great patriot and Christian business man, Dan Weber, and has grown to two million members. Its values and principles are conservative, and it advances both God and country. AMAC has an active operations office in Washington, D.C. and administrative offices in New York and Florida. Its lobbyists work aggressively on Capitol Hill in the interests of the 50+ population. They are working to support conservative initiatives in general. They offer essentially the same services and discounts as AARP for the same low annual fee. You will also get the great bi-monthly AMAC Magazine filled with articles and opportunities for retirees and those approaching retirement.

Now for the exciting news! During this holiday season you can get your first year membership free at conservative radio personality Ben Ferguson’s website, https://benfreeonline.com. AMAC is a major sponsor of the Ben Ferguson Show.

AMAC’s political action strategy includes a unique grass roots effort. An AMAC volunteer delegate has been appointed for each Congressional district across America. I am the delegate for Arkansas’ 4th District. Like other delegates, I am obligated to meet with my Congressman, Bruce Westerman, periodically to discuss issues of importance to seniors and to promote AMAC’s position on those issues. This helps keep our country’s Congressmen focused on their senior constituents. I am fortunate that Congressman Westerman is a strong conservative and a proud AMAC member.

It’s an outstanding organization working on your behalf. Remember, the first year is free if you go to https://benfreeonline.com. Do it now before the promotion expires. There is nothing to lose in this one-year free trial period. Help AMAC work for you and your fellow senior adults.

The Truth About Social Security

Social Security

There are so many rumors and so much misinformation about Social Security today. Here is the truth. No, Social Security is not going broke, but it will be out of reserves soon if not modified. Yes, Social Security future benefits will be reduced if something isn’t done. No, your Social Security payments have not been used for other government programs or wars.  Here are some myth busters and warnings you need to know about your Social Security.

In 2018, America’s workers paid in $965 billion into Social Security, and beneficiaries paid $36 billion in income taxes on benefits for a total of about $1 trillion in payments. All this went into the U.S. treasury earmarked for Social Security. The treasury paid out $998 billion in retiree benefits. The other $3 billion went into the Social Security trust fund, or as some call it, the “lock box.” The trust fund also earned $85 billion in interest last year. So, all pay-ins and pay-outs are accounted for. They always have been and always will be. Not a dollar of your hard-earned payroll taxes has been used for anything but to pay qualified beneficiaries. No, illegal immigrants don’t get Social Security. And, yes, Congressmen and Senators pay into Social Security just like the rest of us. But there is reason for great concern for the program.

I recently attended the annual conference for the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) congressional delegates. Serving as an AMAC delegate for Arkansas’s Congressional District 4 has been a joy and an education for me. Congressman Bruce Westerman is a pleasure to work with. One of AMAC’s principal efforts right now is lobbying Washington for its sensible reform plan to keep Social Security solvent for present and future retirees. The program is rapidly approaching the end of its reserves and will soon be on a strictly pay-as-you-go basis. This will reduce benefits by 20% or more.

Social Security was designed in 1935 for contributions to equal withdrawals. That was when life expectancy was 61 years. Most people didn’t live long enough to collect benefits. Each person who lived long enough had many workers paying for his or her benefits. In the 60’s the ratio of contributing workers to retired recipients was around 5 to 1. Today it is close to 2 to 1 and trending lower. The good news is there is about $3 trillion in the Social Security trust fund today. The bad news is it will all be gone by 2034, because there will not be enough workers to support the longer-living retirees. Most retirees now collect more in their lifetime than they have paid in. If we don’t make adjustments, or even if we wait too long to start making adjustments, benefits in 2034 will be limited to what is being paid in–about 21% less than current benefits.

I urge you to get smart on Social Security and put pressure on your Congressman and Senators to have the courage to do the unpopular and reform the program well before reserves are depleted. Congressman Westerman supports the AMAC plan for saving Social Security and believes it is the best plan in Washington. Click here to learn about the plan. Also, if you need personal advice about anything concerning Social Security, ask America’s best and friendliest advisors at ssadvisor@amacfoundation.org. You can also call them at 1-888-750-2622. It’s free, even to non-members. It could save you a lot of money. For instance, they will calculate whether it would be best to begin drawing at age 62 or later based on your individual situation.

If you’re over 50 and not a member of AMAC, you’re missing out. It’s the same price as AARP with the same benefits, but it is a conservative organization. Click here for their website.
